For almost three decades, Kim Martindale has produced many of the country's most prestigious and successful historic art shows. In addition, over the last twelve years, he's brought the same professionalism and enthusiasm to a series of contemporary fine art shows.
When Kim was only 16 years old, he helped coordinate and implement the ground breaking and influential Santa Fe Antique American Indian Art Show (Sweeney Center). In subsequent years, he co-produced a number of outstanding antique shows including the Winter Antiquities Show, the Summer Antiquities Show, the Ethnographic Art Show, and the Old West Show.
After graduating from high school in 1979, Kim's specific areas of interest led him to intensive studies at various University of California campuses as well as universities in Iowa, Japan and Taiwan. Concurrently, for many of those years, he continued his education by getting hands on experience working for Sotheby's, Los Angeles.
Kim is the producer of the Marin Indian Art Show which now celebrates 23 years of success, and, for 12 years, he has also produced the Los Angeles Art Show on behalf of the Fine Art Dealers Association. Martindale's credits also include the Tribal Art Show, held in association with the Denver Art Museum. In addition, Kim produced the Scottsdale Antiques and Fine Art Show, and ARTscottsdale, both in association with the Phoenix Art Museum and Art and Antiques Magazine. 2008 will see these two shows combine as Scottsdale Art + Design.
Always eager to expand the horizons of American art, he is currently at work on the up coming Latin American Art Show (2009) in Los Angeles, which will be held in affiliation with the Museum of Latin American Art.
Kim's related credits include proprietorship of galleries in Santa Barbara (CA), Ventura (CA), Santa Fe (NM) and most recently, Venice (CA). His professional memberships include the Antique Tribal Arts Dealers Association (a founding member) and IACA.
Kim's current gallery, K R Martindale Gallery in Venice, California, offers an eclectic mixture of ethnographic material with emphasis on Native American, Latin and Asian art, as well as a wide range of fine art including modern and contemporary.
His education and experience make him a sought-after speaker at Universities, museums, and art associations.
